Yogic kriya and pranayama

Information

This will offer participants the opportunity to dive deeply into ancient practices of yoga. These practices aim to purify the body, mind, and energy systems while promoting physical and mental well-being. Here's an overview of what each might cover:

Yogic Kriya
Kriya refers to a set of practices meant to cleanse and purify the body and mind.
Shatkarmas (Six Cleansing Techniques):
 Kapalabhati (skull-shining breathing, rapid exhalations)
 Trataka (gazing at a point or object, often a candle flame, for mental clarity)
 Neti (nasal cleansing, often using saline water)
 Dhauti (internal cleansing, including the digestive system)
 Nauli (abdominal massage through circular movement of the stomach muscles)
 Basti (colon cleansing)

Pranayama
Pranayama focuses on controlling the breath to manage and enhance the flow of life energy (prana) throughout the body. Typical pranayama practices include:
 Nadi Shodhana (Alternate Nostril Breathing): Balances the left and right hemispheres of the brain and purifies energy channels.
 Ujjayi (Victorious Breath): A slow, deep breath with a slight constriction in the throat, creating an oceanic sound, which calms the nervous system.
 Bhastrika (Bellows Breath): Rapid, forceful breaths to energize the body and clear the mind.
 Kapalabhati: Often used as both a kriya and pranayama, this breath involves rapid, forceful exhalations to detoxify and energize.
 Sheetali (Cooling Breath): Involves breathing through a curled tongue to cool the body and calm the mind.
